Discover the Journeys of Two Extraordinary Painters

Welcome to our special art exhibition, where we celebrate the masterpieces of Alexandr Onishenko and Nicholas Egon, whose paths have crossed borders, continents, time and space, to arrive at Castle Blatna for your enjoyment from the 17th July to the 17th August.

Nicholas Egon: A Journey of Artistry and Resilience

Join us as we travel through time and witness the extraordinary journey of Nicholas Egon, born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, in 1921. The twenty stunning flower paintings showcased in this exhibition are a testament to his love for Greece, where he spent the latter years of his life. Combining watercolors and pastel chalks, Egon immortalized Greek flowers and trees with a delicate touch, creating miniature hymns of praise to the natural world.

Leaving his privileged beginnings as the son of Count Kornel Vranov and Olga Apponyi, a young Egon traversed Europe taking on various odd jobs until he found himself in England, where he designed cinema posters and nurtured his passion for painting. Commissioned as a War Artist for the Czech army, he later became a War Artist for the British army. After years documenting war and painting portraits of British and Saudi royals, he then turned his attention to nature, giving us the beauty of Greek flora you can experience at Castle Blatna today.

Alexandr Onishenko: Capturing Prague's Essence
