This summer, thanks to Jana Krausová and Karel Roden at Blatná Castle, we’ll discover how to get instructions for reviving a long-term marriage – and whether the solution is an exciting weekend at a hotel and a “Sex for Advanced” guidebook.
Studio DVA’s theatrical play aptly and wittily answers serious questions about how to handle partnership relationships or how not to lose the ability and need to be happy, even when nothing fundamental prevents us from being so.
Jindřich and Alice were once a happy couple, but 25 years of marriage have left their mark. The passion is gone. Will their love get another chance? Teasing, amusing acts of desperation, and discovering truths more than erogenous zones have delighted audiences of this Canadian comedy around the world. “Sex for Advanced” doesn’t necessarily have to be advanced sex, but it can be the key to saving a relationship.
Karel Roden and Jana Krausová will showcase their acting skills in the very heart of Blatná Castle’s English park. For a better viewing experience, grandstand seating is prepared, offering a beautiful view of both the stage and the illuminated castle.
The plays by Canadian author Michele Riml are performed not only in Canada, but also in the United States, Europe, and South Africa. She is the recipient of several prestigious theatrical awards. “The experience of watching Sex for Advanced didn’t stem so much from the text itself, but from observing the audience. Couples in the auditorium lean toward each other (and sometimes away from each other) and nudge each other depending on whether they agreed with Jindřich or Alice,” says the author.
“My Alice is a woman like any other. She has her ideals and ideas about what a relationship should look like after twenty-five years together. After all, men have their ideas too, they just differ from each other a bit,” describes Jana Krausová about her character.
“Their relationship has burned out and they’re trying to revive it. A number of problems and unwillingness to compromise surface. Sometimes it’s absurd how they don’t listen to each other, and comic situations arise from this,” adds Karel Roden.
