'Tis the season to be jolly! Join us on 10 December from midday onwards, in what will be a Christmas market to remember, spread across the courtyard of Castle Blatna! Mouth-watering international food, tasty drinks, delicately crafted Yuletide gifts, and a few pleasant surprises too, all within the unique setting of the Castle.

The Czech Philharmonic Quartet was founded in 2000 by members of Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Its members currently are: Štěpán Pražák – 1st violin, Viktor Mazáček – 2nd violin, Jiří

Poslední – viola and Jakub Dvořák – cello.


Purkyne Annual Medical Meeting 2017

Annual meeting of esteemed members of medical faculties of the Czech Republic, dedicated to J.E. Purkyne, a famous psychologist and scientist who lived in the castle between 1810 and 1813 upon the request of Franz Hildprandt to tutor his children while pursuing his own research work.

This years´meeting shall mark the 230th anniversary of Purkyne´s birth and 80th anniversary of the first Purkyne meeting in Blatná. The main program will focus on Purkyne's bequest to the development of biomedical research.


Saint Wenceslas Day – Celebration of Czech national statehood

The official program starts at 14:00 in front of the church of The Virgin Mary with a traditional procession. Performances by South Bohemian traditional groups will be held in the courtyard of Castle Blatna, followed by a concert by music group The Villains and Klára Kozlovská at 16:00.

What is going on at Castle Blatna when the castle warden falls asleep? What danger could lay here waiting? A wanderer who chooses to spend a hot summer's night at the castle is soon to find out. The performance is produced in cooperation with historical fencing group Morgana von Maxberg and lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Zuzana Bandúrová (flute), Jarmila Vávrová (oboe), Nela Durníková (clarinet), Denisa Beňovská (bassoon), Adéla Triebeneklová (French horn)

The ensemble was founded in 2012  by students of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under the tutelage of Štěpán Koutník. In 2014 they participated in international music courses "International Summer Academy" in Austria where they won two 1st place awards. One of their greatest success so far is the 3rd place award and title of Laureate at the international competition of brass quintets in Marseille (Concours International de Quintette a vent).
