Mussauer debuted as a conductor in 1994 with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, he has worked with orchestras across Central Europe, such as the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, and Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava.

As Chief Conductor of the Donau Philharmonie Wien Orchestra, Mussauer has transformed his orchestra into a modern, internationally-renowned orchestra.
